This week Elijah and I met with Coach Whitaker to go over our reports we made from last season. Mr. Large and Mr. Whitaker both sat down with us and I printed off the reports we made to hand out to each of them.
We went over each stat in depth and how it affected the team last year. We also went over how we are going to go about doing stats for each game this season and which stats are more important than others. We will provide team chemistry stats and who on the floor plays best together. Over the next few weeks we will be practicing takings stats over last years games to get ready for the season. We can't wait for what this has in store for us.

Over the past few weeks, Elijah and I have been working on writing a summary of the statistics so we can present them to Coach Whitaker. We organized them by player stats and team stats and gave the definition of what the stat means. We also gave a review on the team stats so he can better understand what needs to be worked on from last year to this year. This summary should be very helpful to Coach Whitaker and the players. We can't wait until the season starts and we can do reports on each game. The goal is to get better everyday and help build a championship program.
Over the last few weeks, Elijah and I have been grinding everyday putting stats in from last year into the excel sheets. We did every basketball game from last year and the season totals as well. So we are closer to our goal on last years stats. We are currently working on getting the reports and such so we can share them with Coach Whitaker. We have felt really accomplished that we got all of the data in. At first it seemed like we would never get it all in. Now that we see all the data, it is very eye opening on what we can get better at this basketball season and why we didn't find much success last season.
Pitch day for us was a huge success. Our project proposal was about how we are going to help the basketball team using advanced analytics and excel sheets. Our specific goals were to improve each individual player and help the coaching staff understand what the stats mean and how to go about that. We want to help them win more games and contend for a sectional championship. Our timeline has been to enter all the data in from last year. Now we are making reports from last year to show the coaches what the team needs to get better at. Our presentation went really well, even though we had to throw it together in about a day. I think the project idea was so good that the presentation was good enough. There was a good amount of preparation taking place, because we had to talk to my uncle and contact Andrew to make sure we could use BAM Analytics as our sponsor for the project. After that, it was a matter of understand the point we wanted to get across to the administrators and coaches. We had to get stats and minutes from Coach Whitaker. To present to the administrators was very intriguing, but when we came out I thought it went very well. All of them loved that we were able to come up with this and that we are willing to help the basketball team. We learned how to put everything in excel from my uncle. The feedback we got from the administrators was very positive and a major thing is that the stats have to stay confidential to the team and coaches.
Elijah and I chose to work with the basketball team and provided advanced statistical analysis for them. We chose this because we were interested in helping there basketball team become better. My uncle and his friend were willing to help us get started, because they had created a statistical analysis business called "BAM Analytics". Andrew McClatchey, my uncle's friend, was just hired by the Purdue Men's basketball program to be their new statistical analyst. We are grateful he was willing to help us with this project. We are using Excel to use stats from last year and give coach an analysis of what they did good and bad. We hope to get the team an advantage this year in anyway possible. The hope is to win more games and make the coaches and individuals more aware of what they are doing on the court. During the season, we will provide statistical analysis of each game and possibly even help with scouting reports.
